Minecraft Tournaments

2014/2015 | De tweede verdieping Nieuwegein

Minecraft is currently one the most popular games in the world. It is a kind of digital Lego: players build a world that consists of square blocks. They can collect different pieces, places and tools to build houses and other constructions. With the rare materials players can do special things in the endless creational world of Minecraft.

Playing Minecraft is fun but also very instructive. It can be used to prepare children for a world defined by technology and teach them 21st century-skills. This is why the library of Nieuwegein asked me to organize Minecraft tournaments. In two tournaments more than 150 children were building the cities of the future. The tournaments had different themes: the first was about sustainability, the second about tolerance. The results were stunning, and hopefully our future cities will be like their imagination…
